I am selling my Jamis Satellite. It is the 58 cm size. I am 6 feet tall and it fits me well. It should fit a person a couple inches in either direction as well. You can find some specs here:

http://www.jamisbikes.com/usa/archiv...e_archive.html

I haven't put that many miles on it in the year that I've owned it, so it's still in very good condition. It will come will all of the accessories pictured - bottle cage, frame pump, and a wireless Cateye computer. It will also come with a U-lock that's not pictured.

The bike has spliced brakes, which I think is really cool. There are four brake levers, which you should be able to see in one of the pictures. Both of the brake levers on the right control control the rear brake, and both on the left control the front brake. So no matter where your hands are, you can still brake quickly. I found this to be a lifesaver (perhaps literally) when riding in traffic.

$600 or best offer. Cash only

I live in Somerville, MA in the Davis Square area. It would be quite easy to take the wheels off and fit it in a car. And you can bring bikes on the T. Of course you're also welcome to ride it away.

I've been shooting for years and usually just grab ammo when I need it and get whatever brand I can find at the store I happen to go get it. Recently I have been lightly reading posts about unclean ammo, steel & aluminum casings, etc. and has gotten me thinking about what I am putting through my guns.

So I ask what brands of ball ammo should I stay away from? Or more pointedly, can anybody rank the following brands of ball ammo most commonly found in stores?

I buy 9mm, .40, and .45 on a regular basis.

I see regularly these brands (off the top of my head):

Remington UMC
Winchester White Box
American Eagle
Magtech
Independence
Fiocchi
FMJ
Federal (Wal-Mart stuff)
Wolf

I am not asked to rank price wise, but for what is best/worst for your gun. Most of my guns will eat anything, but that doesn't mean the ammo is good for the gun...

I called Moonbat Shaheen's office and, after being put on hold and transferred twice, was told that she is still reading the bill and has not yet decided what to do. First off, does anybody believe that she is actually reading this 2000+ page monstrosity? I respectfully told them what I thought of it and asked them to urge her to vote against it, for all the good it will do me. I then sent her an email asking her to do the right thing instead of voting along party lines. I now feel the need to disinfect my phone and keyboard and take a shower.

Face of Defense: Soldier Who Led Last Bayonet Charge Dies

American Forces Press Service
WASHINGTON, Nov. 20, 2009 – Retired Army Col. Lewis L. Millett, who earned the Medal of Honor during the Korean War for leading what reportedly was the last major American bayonet charge, died Nov 14.
Retired Army Col. Lewis L. Millet wears his Medal of Honor, Distinguished Service Cross, Silver Star and other medals earned in World War II, Korea and Vietnam. He served as honorary colonel of the 27th Infantry Regiment Association, and was active in veterans events almost to his death Nov. 14, 2009. U.S. Army photo
Millett, 88, died in Loma Linda, Calif., after serving for more than 15 years as the honorary colonel of the 27th Infantry Regiment Association.

Millet received the Medal of Honor for his actions Feb. 7, 1951. He led the 25th Infantry Division’s Company E, 27th Infantry, in a bayonet charge up Hill 180 near Soam-Ni, Korea. A captain at the time, Millet was leading his company in an attack against a strongly held position when he noticed that a platoon was pinned down by small-arms, automatic, and antitank fire.

Millett placed himself at the head of two other platoons, ordered fixed bayonets, and led an assault up the fire-swept hill. In the fierce charge, Millett bayoneted two enemy soldiers and continued on, throwing grenades, clubbing and bayoneting the enemy, while urging his men forward by shouting encouragement, according to his Medal of Honor citation.

"Despite vicious opposing fire, the whirlwind hand-to-hand assault carried to the crest of the hill," the citation states. "His dauntless leadership and personal courage so inspired his men that they stormed into the hostile position and used their bayonets with such lethal effect that the enemy fled in wild disorder."

Millett was wounded by grenade fragments during the attack, but he refused evacuation until the objective was firmly secured. He recovered, and attended Ranger School after the war.

In the 1960s, he ran the 101st Airborne Division Recondo School for reconnaissance and commando training at Fort Campbell, Ky. He then served in a number of special operations advisory assignments in Southeast Asia during the Vietnam War. He founded the Royal Thai Army Ranger School with help of the 46th Special Forces Company. This unit reportedly is the only one in the U.S. Army to simultaneously be designated as both Ranger and Special Forces.

Millet retired from the Army in 1973.

"I was very saddened to hear Colonel Millett passed away," said Army Maj. Gen. Robert L. Caslen Jr., the current commanding general of the 25th Infantry Division at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii. "He was a rare breed -- a true patriot who never stopped serving his country. He was a role model for thousands of soldiers, and he will be missed."

Millet was born in Maine and first enlisted in 1940 in the Army Air Corps and served as a gunner. Soon after, when it appeared that the United States would not enter World War II, he left and joined the Canadian army.

In 1942, while Millet was serving in London, the United States entered the war. Millet turned himself in to the U.S. Embassy there and eventually was assigned to the 1st Armored Division. As an antitank gunner in Tunisia, Millet earned the Silver Star after he jumped into a burning halftrack filled with ammunition, drove it away from allied soldiers and jumped to safety just before the vehicle exploded. He later shot down a German fighter plane with a vehicle-mounted machine gun.

As a sergeant serving in Italy during the war, his desertion to join the Canadian forces caught up to him. He was court-martialed, fined $52 and denied leave. A few weeks later, he was awarded a battlefield commission. After the war, he joined the 103rd Infantry of the Maine National Guard, and he attended college until he was called back to active duty in 1949.

In addition to the Medal of Honor, Millett earned the Distinguished Service Cross, the Silver Star, two Legions of Merit and four Purple Hearts during his 35-year military career. After his retirement, he remained active in both national and local veterans groups from his Idyllwild, Calif., home.

His son, Army Staff Sgt John Morton Millett, was a member of the 101st Airborne Division returning from duty in the Sinai on Dec. 12, 1985, when a charter plane crashed upon takeoff after stopping at Gander, Newfoundland. He was one of 256 soldiers killed in the crash.

On Feb. 7, 1994, Millet was honored with a ceremony on Hill 180, now located on Osan Air Base, South Korea. The ceremony became an annual one, and the road running up the hill was named "Millet Road."

In June 2000, Millet returned to Seoul, South Korea, and served as keynote speaker at the Army's 225th Birthday Ball at the Grand Hyatt Hotel. All eight of the then-living Korean War Medal of Honor recipients attended the event.

This year, Millet served as the grand marshal of a Salute to Veterans parade April 21 in Riverside, Calif. He died Nov. 14 at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Loma Linda, of congestive heart failure.

A memorial service for Millet is scheduled for 10 a.m. Dec. 5 at the National Medal of Honor Memorial at Riverside National Cemetery in California.

I hear good things about IDPA, and I think it would make sense to get some shooting experience outside of a standard shooting range setup. How does one go about getting involved in IDPA? Should I just show up to a match and see how I do? I would need to learn the rules and all that before I compete. Are there practice runs available before or after a competition?

Also, what kind of shooting proficiency should I have before I start IDPA? What kind of distances does IDPA happen at? I'm reasonably proficient, but I just want to make sure that I'll be on target when I start. It would probably be rather frustrating if I was off target.

I'm sure this has been posted and discussed before, but I tried some searches and I couldn't really find an answer, so sorry.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — ...

Watch out Mass., this could be coming to your neighborhood soon.

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,485972,00.html

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Visit any electronics store and it's clear that flat-screen TVs are among their best sellers — and that they hope consumers continue a years-long tradition of upgrading their home entertainment systems for the Super Bowl.

Many large TVs are energy hogs, however, and California regulators want to get the biggest offenders off store shelves.

The California Energy Commission is expected to adopt rules this summer requiring retailers by 2011 to sell only TVs that meet guidelines of the federal Energy Star program, which is generally voluntary.

The proposal includes labeling that tells California buyers how much of their utility bill goes to powering their flat-screen.

"That's one of the things nobody even talks about," said Doug Pongrazc, a chef who was shopping for a flat-screen TV recently at a Best Buy store in the Sacramento area. "How much electricity do these things suck up?"

TV dealers are warning that consumers will simply buy their sets online if they can't find the models they want in California stores. The rules would be the country's first mandatory energy standards for televisions and would further tighten in 2013.

California utilities and environmental groups say the rules will play a key role in reducing electricity use as consumers buy larger TVs and bars and restaurants install more flat-screens to draw customers.

Serving a population of nearly 38 million, California's uneven energy supplies often result in threats of blackouts on the hottest days.

"In the old days, it was easy to look around the house and see that a refrigerator was the dominant guzzler," said Art Rosenfeld, a California energy commissioner who pioneered the state's appliance standards in the early 1970s. "TVs alone are now 10 percent of a household's use."

Including cable boxes, game consoles, speakers, DVD players and digital video recorders, a premium entertainment system can consume nearly $200 worth of electricity each year, according to the energy commission, though most households pay much less.

"We want people to have the entertainment they want, the kind of things that make life better, but there's a way to do it smartly," said Duane Larson, director of customer energy efficiency at PG&E. "It's much more cost-efficient to have (companies) make energy-efficient products than it is to site and build power plants that will also have environmental impacts."

The average plasma TV uses more than three times as much energy as an old cathode-ray tube set, and a 48-inch plasma TV can draw more power than a large refrigerator — even if the set is used only a few hours a day, California regulators said.

Liquid-crystal display, or LCD, TVs guzzle a little less — about 43 percent more energy than tube sets, according to a study by PG&E.

LCDs now account for about 90 percent of the 4 million TVs sold in California annually.

Rear-projection TVs, which fall between LCDs and plasmas in energy use, also would be covered by the new standards.

Retailers and manufacturers say many newer flat-screen TVs use less power than tube sets, noting that 100 available models already go beyond the standards California wants to reach by 2013. The problem is that the best-quality screens use the most electricity.

Industry leaders also say the proposed standards threaten to limit consumer choice, drive shoppers to the Internet and put specialty retailers out of business.

Nearly a quarter of all flat-screen TVs — and all but one plasma TV on the market today — would not be allowed for sale in California once the rules are fully implemented, according to the Plasma Display Coalition.

"It's setting a limit that many TVs that are larger and more fully featured could not meet," said Doug Johnson, a technology expert at the Consumer Electronics Association. "It appears to be an effort to really regulate entertainment, not energy use."

Manufacturers say California should stick with voluntary programs. Energy Star, launched for televisions in November, already is driving competition for energy-efficient TVs nationwide, they say.

Independent retailers, who sell mostly high-end, big-screen TVs, say their customers will shop elsewhere if California adopts the TV standards, and industry experts say the state could lose between $87 million and $130 million in annual sales and income tax revenue right away.
