Animal8526. Go for the help. I did. It's had no effect on my right to own firearms.

IF you get rated 100% for PTSD, you will not be allowed to have firearms (If they check). Most people get less than 100%, and even if they determine you can't work, they rate you 70% PTSD, and 30% Unemployable. It's only once you hit 100% that you have any problems. Of course at that point the VA is saying you can't handle your own money, welfare and housing.

I told myself for years that "it didn't bother me". Then I hit a wall.

Please get to the VA as soon as you can. There are MANY people filing right now, and the process takes some time.

If you want to talk about this more, send me a PM with a phone number and I'll give you a call, or give you my phone number.

There really are things they can do to help. It takes a rel man to admit they have a problem. Don't think it means you're any less the soldier than anyone else. Different people react to stress in many different ways.

Good luck Brother.

Bill

I was in the same boat man had a lot of problems dealing with the iraq stuff. Too make a long story short I went to the va and got some help and don't regret a thing. They diagnosed me with ptsd, hearing loss, and tinitus and gave me a rating. Still got my class a ltc no problem. Get the help now before it spirals out of control. Pm me if you need help navigating the va or just need to talk with someone who has been there and understands.

Also look for the Vet Centers in local shopping plazas. They keep their conversations and treatment completely confidential.
