  1. Prep of The Day Thread

That was still one of our “Common Tasks” back in the eighties. They really are cool phones for a grid down situation.
  2. Prep of The Day Thread

    can you blame him?
  3. Prep of The Day Thread

    You weren’t wrong then, either.
  4. Prep of The Day Thread

Every day, things get worse and worse. Nothing improves, ever. The country is circling the bowl faster and faster. The economy is deliberately being collapsed as well as our food supply.
  5. What are YOU spending YOUR hard earned dollars on to prep for the inevitable eventual collapse of the U.S. Dollar?

Your spot (forgive the pun) on with your last paragraph. We hold it not out of sentiment but as a store of wealth. When SHTF happens, we will still have a means of exchange other than barter. I think people sometimes conflate the “value of silver”, which never changes, with the numismatic...
  6. What are YOU spending YOUR hard earned dollars on to prep for the inevitable eventual collapse of the U.S. Dollar?

The “dollars” (Federal Reserve Notes) you’re buying it with are worth significantly less now. The value of the silver has never changed in real terms. An actual dollar, as defined by the Uniform Coinage Act of 1792 is 371.25 grains of silver. Appreciation never factors into my decision to stack...
  7. What are YOU spending YOUR hard earned dollars on to prep for the inevitable eventual collapse of the U.S. Dollar?

I’d strongly recommend buying silver now. It’s remarkably cheap. Lower denomination old US currency, pre 1965 is best. Get a little bit every week.

A lot of Portuguese people have been growing tomatoes in buckets in the driveway for years. Many have a grape trellis over the back part of the driveway too. They’re very self sufficient. Plywood is a great idea. I stack it in the garage and I rotate it periodically so it doesn’t set.
  9. What are YOU spending YOUR hard earned dollars on to prep for the inevitable eventual collapse of the U.S. Dollar?

Something that gets little attention is pest control post SHTF. I have an older house with a fieldstone foundation so it’s a way of life. I stock up on poison for the outside, snap traps of both sizes for indoors, and crack sealer for gaps in the foundation. Bug spray is a must. Currently, I’m...
  10. What are YOU spending YOUR hard earned dollars on to prep for the inevitable eventual collapse of the U.S. Dollar?

Our Republican Town Committee (RINO free) is becoming a sort of mutual assistance group within itself. GMRS radios are the way to go for a local “bug in” with people who may be amateurs but are of good character and are eager to learn and help one another. I can’t stress enough how important...

I’ll bet she was NOT GUILTY
  12. Things are going "South" .... in South Africa

When DeKlerk bowed to the pressure of the globalists (sold out), did we really expect any different outcome? I’m surprised it’s surviving at all. Crime, inflation, and shortages have been the norm for nearly three decades. “Land repossession” is being discussed seriously. Rhodesia has fared no...
  13. What are YOU spending YOUR hard earned dollars on to prep for the inevitable eventual collapse of the U.S. Dollar?

@76Too , you’ll know this one: Gerber Banana 2nd food tubs. First aid and a radio system with my RTC pals. We’re trying to decide which system to go with, GMRS or CB. Personally, we’re as ready as we can be for Massachusetts. Networks of friends are the most important thing to help ensure...
  14. Living without a refrigerator

I like having the fridge. It’s way better than food poisoning and all the things that killed people in the 19th century. As a matter of fact, I’d go so far as to say that household refrigerators are the invention that keeps us from having our lives revolve around the acquisition of food. You...
  15. Long shelf life foods

    They stack nicely too.
  16. Long shelf life foods

For bulk foods like rice, beans, wheat berries, we use a method I saw from Alaska Prepper on YouTube. Take an empty Vittles Vault, fill with bulk food, drop in a few bay leaves to prevent weevils, and you’re good for decades. You can get the Vittles Vault at Tractor Supply or Amazon.

  18. Grain Mill Recommendation

I’ve been looking too. Very interested in this thread. Maybe @enbloc has experience with this?
