I went with the varmint round. I have a Winchester 45g hollowpoint round. Basically it enters and in a couple inches blows up into a 5-6" hole completely desinigrating. This was done in soaked through paper, repeatedly.

As it has been explained to me, if the environment outside of the barrel is the same as what is in the barrel then no issues. When you do something like stick a barrel end in water it creates a pocket of air between the bullet and water that will not compress and causes catastrophic venting...
