  1. What did you do in the reloading room recently?

I wouldn’t worry about it. 3.5 BE is a top end load for stained pressure 38 special. it’s going to be just like shoot factory jacketed out of the rifle. Just make sure the bullet exits the barrel. If for some weird reason it doesn’t then shoot the rest in a revolver.
  2. What did you do in the reloading room recently?

I use 3.5 BE with a 158 cast in rifles. I believe I actually gained about 150 FPS IIRC from the 16” barrel. nothing stuck.
  3. What did you do in the reloading room recently?

Set up the NOS Mec 600 Jr. MK Vs today. Looks like both were unused. I’ll fiddle with them tomorrow and get the crimp set up. Now I just need some smaller powder bushings for the 20 gauge loader.
  4. My first 45-70

45/70 is so easy to load for Get a lee loader or a Lyman 310 and you will be fine. There are some more detailed videos out there but this one shows the simplicity of it. I’ve loaded a bunch of 45/70 this way and even though I shoot a ton of it I wouldn’t feel under gunned with just a lee loader...
  5. What did you do in the reloading room recently?

I have one of his 6 cavity Moulds and I bet his 8 cavity is no bigger than the lee 6 cavity.
  6. My first 45-70

It’s because your press is the wrong color ;) I have micro groove in all 4 of my Marlins 38/357 44 Russian/Special 30/30 45/70 They have all proven accurate with lead. So if you ever run into one with MG rifling don’t hesitate to buy it Gerry
  7. What did you do in the reloading room recently?

Ouch! Cracked open a new bucket of tumbling media and cleaned up some 300 Blackout brass. Just picked up a NOS 20 gauge Mec 600 MK V and a 12 gauge to match. The 12 gauge seems to have been unboxed and never used. I’ll probably set them up tonight and sell off the older models I have.
  8. What Happened to the Trail Boss Load Data?

Good point about the low charge weight giving a ton of loads per can. I have used a decent amount of Clays and for light loads it amazing. Super clean burning. Trail Boss is technically a Clays technology powder. Just bigger donuts. What bullet are you going to be using? Hopefully a home cast...
  9. What Happened to the Trail Boss Load Data?

Cool. Just curious. I always stayed away from it due to cost. I do have from a batch of stuff I purchased but I never loaded it. Let me know how you like it. Do you normally load 38? If so what powders have you used? I would like to hear your comparison if so.
  10. What did you do in the reloading room recently?

Interesting. I never had any issues with my tubes but who knows. My Dillon equipment was all used so maybe it was done by the last owner.
  11. What Happened to the Trail Boss Load Data?

Just curious, why are you using trail boss in the 38?
  12. My first 45-70

Not at all. 32 grains of H4198 takes up the same amount of space as 12 grains of Unique. I was loading with Unique and switched over to H4198 and dropped my first charge to see how much I needed to crank up the powder measure. Hardly had to move it at all. It’s only off by about 1/2 grain or so...
  13. What did you do in the reloading room recently?

Yeah this is one reason I always use Winchester primers.
  14. My first 45-70

Love it! I’m a big fan of 12 grains of Unique for plinking loads. 32 grains of H4198 with a 405 for trapdoor loads. Anything above that gets exciting quick!
  15. What did you do in the reloading room recently?

Shooting supply will sell you a sleeve of primers. Not sure if there is a discount though.
  16. Restaurant Depot

Have you tried Market Basket? Not sure if you have one close by but my local one always has pork bellies.
  17. Loading 7.5mm 1882 Ordnance: My Process

    Great write up!
  18. open top

You’re killing Gerry. I want a nice Uberti 1873 so bad I can taste it. the search continues. What barrel length did you get?
  19. bullet seat/crimp die

I used to look at the primer feed and the powder in the case. I stopped looking at the primer feed because I can feel it easy enough. I don’t have any issues cranking out 500 an hour out of a Dillon 550. My eyes have to be looking at something. Might as well be keeping myself safe.
  20. Unique for 44 magnum?

They will he welcome. This forum tends to get choked up with tons of cat threads and off topic bullshit. it’s more of the place to come to see what’s screwed up in the world or who the newest weirdo is in FL. From time to tone some reloading threads pop up and we get to see some of the vast...
