So I decided to tear apart my LTR and do a bit of work on it myself. I figured that the worst case is I hose up the factory part and have to buy the aftermarket part I was considering anyway.
I did a trigger job as outlined here:

The results were GREAT. Easily shaved several lbs off the pull and is MUCH crisper. So I moved on to the bolt stop so I could release the bolt by pulling it as opposed to having to fight with the lousy factory one. I modded it per this site:

And it is now much easer to release, but I still have to push the damn release while pulling the bolt (although just push it and pull the bolt, I no longer have to push-poke-slide-wiggle-curse the release). I looked at the Volquartsen Bolt Release @Midway and mine looks just like it. I even polished it up so it is nice and smooth. Any ideas on why the stupid thing is not wanting to play along?

(And yes, I know it is well worth it to just buy the Volquartsen, but this is more of an academic exercise in gunsmithing than it is in time-value of money.[smile])

BTW.. building my LTR was one of the best things I have done gun-wise. I usually rather shoot it than my AR. If you have not done this yet, I HIGHLY recommend it!

hard to tell without seeing it but sounds like you filed the top section of the release flat, it should have a shallow arc from front to back.

That could be the case (if you are referring to the hole at the top and not the whole piece itself). I will try to post some picts this weekend if I get a chance to tinker with it.

Correct .........

When you remove the little hump from within the top hole you do not want that surface to be flat. It should have a shallow dished out arc.

With a little Google-Foo I'm sure you should be able to find an illustration.

This what your bolt release should look like to function without needing to push up on the bolt release, just pull the bolt back-release and it should go all the way forward. One note, is that you still need to push up in order to hold the bolt open.

Thanks guys. I think I have it a bit flat on top. (just going from memory). I will try to disassemble it tonight or tomorrow and take a look.

On a side note, I was very impressed on how easy the thing was to work on!
