Going to be doing a 10/22 build and want to truly free float the barrel which is obviously difficult with the one takedown screw. I don't want to do the bedding pad forward of the barrel clamp. I was looking at either doing a cross bolt through the rear of the receiver or doing a rear tang like the one Kidd makes. Not sure if I would use theirs or make my own but that doesn't really matter right now. I have seen people adding a "button" to the rear of the receiver then bedding it into the stock but I am not crazy about that either.
I am a member on RFC and have researched it some. Some people say it didn't make much difference but I want to try one or the other. I can't see how adding a second mounting point for a receiver could be a bad thing even if it does nothing more than give me something to tinker with in the shop after work.
Any thoughts on the subject?
