Yesterday I took apart, cleaned, and re-assembled one of my 10/22 10 shot rotary mags.

A problem has developed. No matter how much, or little spring tension I put on it the rotary cylinder on the inside it sticks when I tighten the screw down fully. It works fine if I don't fully tighten it and leave a little "slop" but otherwise it sticks.

I've tried it with all sorts of different tension settings on the spring to the same result.

It's clean, lubed, etc..

It's definitely getting put back together correctly and with no missing pieces.

Anyone have any ideas on this or should I just put some blue loctite on the threads of the screw and run it?

Thanks

Are these factory mags? I didn't know you could take factory mags apart. I useually spray clean mine with CLP and let them drain dry.

Yes, you can with an allen wrench.

Did you re-tension the spring? 2.75 full turns.

yes, I did re-tension the spring to that spec, still sticking. It's almost like the inner cylinder has somehow become to long to fit inside the magazine so that when I tension the screw it causes it to bind.

Try taking it apart again and see if something has gotten wedged in there - a piece of debris, perhaps, dislodged from the cleaning.

And of course, don't forget to make sure that the cylinder is oriented the correct way. [smile]

Thanks Dwarven,

I have checked and re-checked still the same. My fingers are getting sore from tensioning the spring, any easy tips on doing that?

A socket might help.

As for what is sticking... I'm stuck. [wink] Are you going to the mini AS in Mansfield tomorrow? I could take a look at it there, perhaps.
