I've got a S&W with the factory adjustable target sights, but I found it difficult to quickly establish a sight picture with both the front and rear being black. Especially when we were shooting silhouettes today.

I'm planning on shooting the informal action pistol matches in Eastham (Nauset Rod and Gun Club) and may get into USPSA or IPSC.

Not really intending to CCW this gun, so what would you guys recommend? Maybe paint the sights, change 'em out for fiber optic or a different style, or just get used to shooting with them?

[cheers]

A friend of mine just had some fiber sights installed on the front of his M&P noticeable difference over the stock "white dot" that it had prior. I fired off a few rounds with it yesterday and I personally liked it.

My buddy had Greg Derr do the install he offers this service on 1911's

Also a plug for Greg as I met with his also and saw his shop and work preformed, greg also has an extensive shooting background and I feel positive if you spoke with him he would direct to what you need for the shooting you are going to do..

also some comments on greg..

- He answers the phone returns emails.
- had the firearm turned around very quickly(in this case)
- reasonably priced
- amazing shop

I had three white dots but the three white dots are confusing during rapid fire and sometimes you line them up wrong because of it. So what I did was paint the rear two black and keep the front white one and it is working perfectly for me.

I had David Santurri in North Attleboro, change the front sights on 2 of my 1911's. I had a red fiber optic put on a S&W and a green fiber optic put on my custom made 1911.

There was a big difference in the way I shot them both after they were installed. But I was really surprised by the difference between the green and the red.

The green one really stands out better and my eyes pick it up faster.
