Hey guys,

I have the opportunity to pick up a 1943 Ithaca 1911 from a friend of mine, but neither of us can find an accurate price to settle on. The gun is in good running shape, mostly original (minus grips), but the big issue is in the past it had been blued. I understand the original parkerized finish is key to the value of the gun. I've seen them go for 1200-1500 on gun broker recently, but those were all original finish...

Can any one help me get a ball park value on her?

Thanks guys!
Devin

That price sounds very inflated. Remember GB is HIGH retail. Many sellers don't care how long it sits. I have an affirmation with Ithica guns. Most important thing is you say it functions well. I hate to throw out values on here but IMO it's below the 1k mark.

How good of a friend? But really if the gun has been blued, its now just a shooter 500 to 800 range. If it has not been polished much before rebluing you could have it reparkarized. That might give it more value that it has now.

Thanks for the responses guys,
He is a good friend and basically said to make him an offer I feel is fair. I've shot the gun many times and it does shoot very nice.
I don't think it will ever end up in a serious collection, but i was thinking about having it reparkarized just for the sake of being a bit more authentic.
I'll check Guns International as well!

Here's BB values View Historic Prices

Grading 100% 98% 95% 90% 80% 70% 60% N/A $2,200 $1,800 $1,500 $1,200 $1,100 $800

That's for a un molested model. As many say its been devalued significantly. What markings are there may not show if you try to repark it. Might want to talk with Greg derr of marshfield 1911 pistolsmith. Offer him 600 if you like the gun probably more than double what he paid!

If it has been blued the price goes down, its more a shooter than a collector. I agree offer $600 tops and if he says no move on and keep up the search.
