I recently saw a 1966, Remington 870 Wingmaster for 325 but with taxes and transfer fees would be close to 385.00 and was wondering what others thought. I don't know much about shotguns but here are the Details:

REMINGTON 870 WINGMASTER in 12 GA CAL., with 26" barrel. Color BLUE. Condition 95% PLUS. Serial number 1012108M. TAKES 3†SHELLS, ORIGINAL CUTTS COMPENSATOR, FIVE CUTTS SCREW IN CHOKES- M.C.725, 755, 705 F.C., 3 L.R. 590, 2 L.R. 680, WRENCH, HAND MADE WOOD CASE FOR THE CUTTS CHOKES!!!

the older the better engraving on the receiver or maybe that is just 1100s. Aren't new ones around that price?

The Express is around $400 these days and the old Wingmasters are more like the Police model. Better reciever and internals than the Express models.

Im a little curious
1. I do not think remigton installed cutts systems ? I could be wrong. To this day I have not come across any description of this as a factory opption?
2. is it a vent rib or plain barrel?
3. Also Im wondering if only the barrel is for 3" shells. I know the wingmasters where @ some point in the late 80s all made with 3" as standard. my 870 purchase new in 1987 has a 3" capable barrel but a 2 3/4 reciever. 3" shells fire but will not eject.
seems like a high price to me. I would call remington with the serial number and at least get the age correct. Also is possible there is a date code on the barrel. This will @ least pair up the 2 as far as age goes.

OK heres my quick take-----no the CUTTS is not factory and that ugly thing devalues the gun. If its a plain barrel value down even more. Out on a limb to say a 1966 remy did not have 3" ??
If the barrel is not ruined buy the cutts installed maybe 200.00 if its in 95%

I have a pile of shotguns. Benelli, Mossberg, Baikal, Remington, and Browning. Hands down, the BEST upland bird guns I have are 1960's Remington 870 Wingmasters. I do not believe that screw in chokes were even available then, so your barrel must be newer.
