2 Meter SSB Emergency Test

We should think about an HF net too. Pick a time each week for a local ragchew.

I would be willing to try as well. I am in the greater Lowell area with a couple of stacked 2m loops. Omnidirectional but worth a shot sometime. Also willing to try HF.

Yeah, me too. I'm grinding on a spreadsheet for work right now. It's got a lot of tedious math and is going real slow since I'm tired into my 2nd glass of wine.

IN!

10pm works good, and I can do whatever band or mode we pick.

BTW, why 2M SSB? Is there a distance advantage over FM? Or is it just so much less popular that there would be more privacy for SHTF?

Most defenitely IN.
I'm pretty sure the guys doing Dx with VHF/UHF turn their antennas sideways for horizontal polarization. I assume we'll be using our vertical repeater antennas though.

Correct the best way for SSB is Horizontal. I will be using the Arrow SAT antenna... I have had QSO's on my vertical on SSB too. It all depends on line of sight.
