Anyone here use IMR4895 for loading 223?

Hogdon lists it in their reloading guide as an acceptable powder, and gives loads throughout the bullet weights. Just wondering how it works. It would be nice to be able to use the same powder for 308 and 223.

Thanks

Many use 4895. It is in that same mid-range burn rate as RE15, Varget, etc..

I'm editing to add that these powders are used with the heavier bullets. I have no idea how they work with 69gr or less.

I only reload 55gr, and 62gr projectiles, because I can get pulled surplus ones for short $. Who makes RE-15 powder?

If you are looking to load in bulk than a ball powder is the way to go. Look at AA2230 nad Hodgdon H335 also Ramshot Tac. They meter very well through a progress and a powder measure. I get very little variation using AA2230C in my Dillon and RCBS measures.

I use 4895 in pretty much any reasonable rifle caliber, except magnums.

I like it in the .223 and can say it's very accurate.

Also, the .223 was designed to be used with IMR powder.

I use LC brass with WSR primers 24 grains of H4895 over a moly Nosler 69 bullets for HiPower and it will shoot if I can hold. Not to metion that it burns real clean

I've used IMR4895 with great results, 24.0grs, 69gr Sierra Matchkings,

LC cases, Remington 7 1/2 primers. Please work up your own loads and use this info as reference only.
