.260 Rem

I recently picked up a Savage model 11 in .260 Rem, and would like to use it for deer hunting in Maine.
There is always a chance that a bear could show up and would like to know if anyone has a .260 and what have you found to work
for deer and bear. I know every gun is different but was looking for a starting place.
