At is one hell of a queue. An industrious person could make a fortune setting up an espresso bar.You would spend between $40k and $160k. Most of the hard work is done (paths, steps, signs) by previous decades and centuries of hikers. You "just" have to walk up the hill and you'll probably have a few dozen others in the group. Each paying similar amounts. It's big business now. You do know I didn't really hike Mt E, right?
Nepal has cracked down on photo rights (because the volume of traffic is embarrassing to them) but here are a couple shots of hikers summiting Everest...
