Just for info from the Ruger forum. A good comparison of the size differences.

I don't have a Ruger Max (yet) but I do have a DW Max. It is a potent round and a fun gun.

A guy at my club used to think it funny to bring his to our bowling pin shoots. I think it was a Dan Wesson. The muzzle blast would just about knock the pins over...

The wikipedia entry said that there was trouble with destruction of revolvers chambering this round?

Despite stellar performance, the high pressure and velocity of the cartridge caused excessive gas cutting (flame cutting) of revolver top straps, and the cartridge has since been dropped by all manufacturers who so chambered their revolvers.[2] Single shot pistols and rifles (e.g., Thompson/Center Contender) are still available in this caliber, and remain popular among handloaders. Unprimed brass is also still produced every few years by Remington, with the next production run expected in 2009.

S&W is having this same problem with their new .460's
They thought they had the problem licked with better metalurgy, and forcing cone polishing and geometry, but they're having flame-cutting trouble with it.
I handload .357 MAX for my T/C Custom Shop Carbine.
