Hi all,
I have a .36 cap and ball EIG Navy revolver that has some corrosion. I want to get some advice. I got the name of a person at Braintree R&G but they don't seem to be on NES.
I want to clean it up and make it safe to fire, I am looking for anyone who may be a gunsmith who can check it out. I did ask Greg about this and he indicated he would not work on it.
I want to see if I can correct an issue with the cylinder lock (not sure the exact term) not retracting and gouging the bluing off the cylinder. The cylinder will only turn with each half-cock making it a tad dangerous to load. The rammer works fine and the bore and cylinders are clear.
I know BP is a tad corrosive. If anyone can give me any advice on someone who can look at it, that would be great. I guess there are mineral spirits I can soak it in, but I am not sure what percentage or what exactly I would need.
Thanks for your help!
