37mm whoopsie - METROLEC training accident

Is he going to be all 'right'?? [rofl2] Hope he wasn't a lefty...

Would be interesting to see an actual news article about this. Including how they try to spin it.

For police it's reported as a "37mm projectile launcher." For the rest us us, it's a "grenade launcher."

WTF are LEO types using 37mm launchers for. Any particular reason they don't get the real 40mm ones?
Perhaps for cheaper signal flare launching... Or they were just too cheap to get the extra 3mm... Or it could just be easier to get the 37mm since those are 'civilian' sized versions.

Because 40s are DD (and thus, an NFA device) and there's more paperwork and regulation, even though the kopsch don't have to pay taxes on it, still more flaming hoops. Hell in the US a 37mm isn't even even fed. regulated at least not on the front. Most of the US LE market is centered around 37s for CS, stun grenades, etc, blah blah.

Great info. I always thought 37mm was limited to things like flares/smokes and not any useful loads.

One problem is most of the companies selling the 37mm CS/OC and baton rounds are basically LE distribution only.... so a lot of that stuff doesn't appear in common
use, outside of the DIY or some sketchmo people selling it.
