I had a great day at the range today. Was able to shoot 396 rounds of .40s/w in just 60 minutes.

My glock 23 was smokin (literally)...too hot to even holster. [smile]

I even have a bruise on the web of my shooting hand... [smile][smile]

While it is always fun to blow things up my shooting today had a purpose. I was able to test two new pieces of equipment.

I gave my newly installed XS Sights a real ride. At first I found these sights difficult to use. However, after having watched a video demo on the proper way to use them I really became impressed. They were fast and deadly accurate. Even out to 50 yards I was hitting a man sized target with good accuracy.

In addition to the sights I was able to put a new pair of goggles to the test. The ESS Turbo Fan goggles functioned perfectly. Even though I was sweating a great amount the goggles never once came close to fogging. I did not have to clean them at all. A+ performance.

The Ess Turbo Fan goggles - I will have to look into those. Was at the range last night and was fogging up enough to break my concentration.

I started out with a pair of ESS ICE glasses. They fogged and needed cleaning constantly. I then purchased a pair of Oakley A-Frame Assault goggles. They fogged terribly.

The Turbo Fan goggles appear to be every thing I need in eye protection.

(the other items I tried were so bad that I would often remove my eye protection when no one was looking just so I could see the target [thinking])

Concerning the XS Sights I watched a video demonstration that said they should be used like an Eotech...just place the big dot on the target and fire. They worked incredibly good using them like that.

On previous range trips I struggled to hit the side of a barn with them. Did not notice them to be much quicker.

However, on this trip i did notice a difference. It also may make a difference that I was shooting a full sized mannequin. I have found that shooting paper does not always give a good perspective as to what it takes to hit vitals.

An 8 1/2 X 11 piece of paper does not show that in a rapid fire string you placed one round in the lower center neck area and and another round through the heart with 3 rounds connecting the dots.

The fans are old tech, they've been using those in paintball for years. In fact, you can pull the goggle part off an old paintball mask and put a specially designed fan on it.

That said, I've never had fogging problems at the range except in extreme rain.
