500 auto mag AR?

I don't understand, is this an AR that fires S&W 500 Magnum, or is "500 Automag" a cartridge? (like maybe a rimless S&W 500 magnum)

I remember (mainly from reading Mack Bolan books as a kid) the .44 Automag was a cut down .308 round loaded with a .44 bullet. What do you cut down to get a .500?

Interesting, and always cool to have more choices. Going to be relatively heavy in the AR-308 platform. Hopefully uses the same mags as an AR-308. It will need some convenient features if it's going to stick. Perhaps different bolt and bigger ejection port?

Might be fun, but I'll stick to the .458 SOCOM. Ridiculous amount of energy from a standard AR platform with minimal mods and same mags. That, plus a bazillion choices for projectiles.

Question. How is this different from the 50beowulf? AA had to go with a rebated rim in order to use a standard bolt(7.62x39 bolt). I think AA did this to compromise in order to use the most number of standard parts.

edit. Read it. Looks like 308 bolt.

I'm wondering what the advantages over Beowulf are too. Is this going to be more powerful?

.50 Beowulf cartridge has an OAL 54mm and fits standard AR15 lowers, designed for 5.56 NATO cartridge with an OAL of 57mm.

This Big Horn Armory lower looks to be at least AR10 spec (probably larger) and 7.62 NATO cartridge has an OAL of 70mm.

So assuming 500 Auto Mag is a new round (and it seems to be) it could have 16+ extra millimeters of "science" to make it better.

That makes sense. Their auto mag naming and comparison to s&w 500 made me think they were going for more pistol than rifle
