7.62x39 ammo, just for the hell of it...

One good thing about golden tiger and that other rebranded stuff is that they use a boat tail bullet which is typically more accurate than a flat base bullet that’s used in Tula and Barnaul ammo.

Then again I’m not shooting for groups. But some others might be.

Rebranded Golden tiger bullets on left. Tula bullets on right. Had to break down some ammo for test the primers last night.

Wow Russian x39 is getting wiped out online. There was a vendor out of SC who had well over a million rounds of Tula x39 in stock this morning. You could buy a 20 foot container and/or pallets. Just checked the website now. SOLD OUT.
Oooof!
The panic buying is on![laugh]

It’s probably too late to even bother looking for that Republic brand on TS. Yesterday there were like 174 cases maybe??

I found some other vendors who had it for 32ish cpr shipped so I jumped on those.

I guarantee TSUSA will post up more Republic x39 in the coming days and it will be at least 40 cpr not 35 cpr. They are notorious for raising prices during conflict/panic. But no one if forcing me to buy it so whatever[laugh]

I just called a vendor where I bought some ammo this morning and he said he's sold 26 million rounds since monday!!o_Oo_O

He is a bigtime importer and places like BP/Cabelas, Academy etc buy ammo from him. He said he's got 16 containers in customs right now and hasn't heard yet if they've come through. He said if they do, the price will be 20% higher. The ammo he had been selling was bought in 2021 when the price was lower.

The vendor I purchased from earlier in the week now as Maxxtech 7.62x39 back in stock. It's basically rebranded golden tiger. $290 per case plus shipping. You'll see it at the top of the list of that search engine for pew pew food....

Edit: GONE!!!

Ive noticed a bunch of Global Ordnance coming in. Looks like its Lacquered and sealed like the GT and good Barnual. This may be our saving grace for good AK ammo outside of russia. Ill have to buy a box and give it a try.

It's apparently made by Arsenal Bulgaria. They are a legit Eastern European weapons Factory who makes lots of ammunition, ordinances, and weapons for militaries all over the world. I would say it's good stuff although I have no personal experience

I realize very few will reload the x39mm, but where else do you get bird shot, plastic riot, frangible and 200g JSWC loads?

looks like another new country importing steel case

Yeah I would delete this as we shouldn’t be posting vendors who ship to us in MA.

I discretely posted about this vendor in post #173 but now it looks like it’s not coming from Russia anymore?

Seems like it's manufactured by a plant in Kyrgyzstan. It used to be a Soviet Socialist Republic so I'd assume it's comparable higher quality military spec ammo. They likley have the same tooling, processes, etc.

Seems to be a real deal military cartridge plant they're coming from in Bishkek

Prices have dropped a bit lately it seems. SGAmmo has cases of Tula for $350 shipped. No they don’t ship to MA but just a reference

Ukraine baby ! LOL ..Have a few of these.

IMHO this polymer coated ammo is made by Tula Cartride Works in Russia, while the factory owner Rottenberg was under sanctions. To circumvent the sanctions TCW sold this ammo to Century as "Made in Ukraine". Since when Rottenberg fictitiously "on the paper" transferred his shares in TCW to two of his top level employees and after that sanctions from TCW were lifted by US.gov.
IMHO Ukrainian factory "Lugansk Cartridge Plant" has not exported to the USA a single round since Russia invaded Ukraine in 2014, as the factory was captured by Russians by 2014 and most of the machinery was stolen and moved to Russia.

IMHO this ammo is a contraband, unless it was imported on or before 2014.

P.S. If that ammo is from recent import, then it could mean that Tula factory and Century thinks they can illegally circumvent the sanctions against Russia by falsifying the country of origin of the ammo in all the gov paperwork for importation.

P.P.S. If in doubt - find Луганск (Lugansk) on the Ukraine war map. It is being under Russian occupation since 2014.

Since I got a free case of Tula x39 from another vendor a couple months ago, I pulled the trigger on a case from SGAmmo.

Don’t know how true this is but just got this email from an online vendor who I’ve bought ammo from. I see other websites are stating this is the final allocation of ammo from Russia so maybe it’s true?
But as it’s been discussed before I’m sure other countries will start importing it via re-branding repackaging etc.6A30F788-1639-4127-A23F-BAFDFF6E8551.jpeg

Dang, I thought we'd still have a steady supply until sep 2022... but this Russo-Ukranian conflict moved that up.

Yeah I dunno. Very good chance that the vendor is doing this to drive up sales? I see a lot of vendors have a good stock of x39 right now. Probably trying to get it moved? Prices have trickled down a bit too. Not indicative of ammo drying up in my opinion. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I wouldn't be surprised given the volatile situation. Vendors very well could have ordered/stocked up on a bloated amount of 7.62 thinking they could sell it for the increasing prices at higher margins, seeing as how the prices have dipped back to .30-.40 cpr from .50 they peaked at the other week.

Wonder if 619DW still has some 7.62 GT left. Still a very competitive price for those of us within reasonable distance. I'd personally prefer it over Tula.

Bingo. Those are my thoughts too.

Yeah the GT is good stuff. Just won’t run well in my x39 AR because of the hard deep seated primers. Tula/Wolf works well enough for me.

The Tula I bought from SGAmmo was $350 shipped then I have to pay the UPS Store in NH a $5 fee. But the UPS Store is half the distance from my work compared to 619DW. So more convenient for me
