As some of you know I had to send the slide to my Witness to EAA (see 'Glad I Caught This' thread). Well, Got the slide back and bought some ammo today. Rem JHP. (It's a .45 cal, by the way). Anyways, it seems to have a little issue when I try and close the slide by the release. If I pull the slide back and let it go it will chamber the round. I'm going to pick up some FMJ rounds to see if it just the HP that this happens or if I have a bigger issue at hand.

Suggestions, please.

The Witness's cousin the cz 97 which is functionally very close had the same problems initially. The cz was introduced with witness mags and they are still the same. The early ones had nose dive problems with hollow points, they would not feed the first 1, 2, or, possibly 3 rounds. Load a half mag and try it, it should work. The fix from cz was to polish and reprofile the feed ramp. The feed ramp is similar to the browning HP a humpback design, they straightened it slightly and polished it to fix this issue. It's easy to do, I did my 97 when it wouldn't feed. A small sanding drum and polishing wheel on the dremel and your good to go. Jim

Thanks!!! I did a little (very little) filing on the ramp today to take down any raised metal (there were one or two spots that needed a slight touch). It helped a little, but I'm more than happy to break out the dremel and have at it![smile]
