This also looks interesting.....
If I am currently in saving mode and lots of options are still on the table, I find it is more pleasurable to research a gun for a while and then make the purchase.. Any suggestion? I would like it for carry so light frame is good, single stack, 6,7 or 8 rds., night sight are good, laser can be purchased afterwards. I have not dura-coated or cera-coated a gun yet but would like to have one done...http://i732.photobucket.com/albums/ww329/melissafh217/Untitled-1.png
I just don't know what to do but I likeit...

Out of those, go with the sig. My sig nightmare fastback is one of the best shooting 1911s i've ever owned, and that includes a Baer thunder ranch and a Brown SF.

I recommend nothing smaller than a Compact -- that is, a 4"+ barrel. The smaller the barrel, the more likely to have reliability issues.

Dan Wesson

I don't have any experience with Dan Wessons. They are pretty rare. As near as I can tell, they are just another production 1911. I don't think they are the equal of the semi-custom 1911s.

I'm not attacking you or your knowledge of 1911's, but how can you possibly come to this conclusion with no experience on them?

Dan Wesson is considered by many to be the highest end of production 1911's, with some arguing they are better considered a high end production 1911 on the quality level of the big 3 semi-customs. DW is hand fitted using ZERO MIM parts (all tool steel), something very few manufacturers do anymore. The Valor for instance has a match barrel, FSC, Heine night sights. You are correct in that they are rare; they made about 3,500 in 2010 which will give you the exclusivity factor that many other 1911's lack. They are very simple, clean 1911's. I'm not saying they are equal to the semi customs because I don't have the experience to make that judgement, what I can say is they are very well made 1911's and worth considering if you ever get to the point where you want a 1911 built a certain way but don't want to throw down for LB/EB/WC money.

That's my opinion, based on what I've read. I don't hold it very strongly, though.

You have your opinion, I have mine. I'm sorry if I called your dog ugly.
