I have been working on a few menu items for use during my winter outings.

Recently I went on a short-distance one-night trip and had this for the evening meal - I call it Chorizo California!

Start with your favorite meat and vegetables.

I use two sausage links and two cups of vegetables.

Slice the sausage into thin disks. Add them and the vegetables to a sandwich size zip lock bag.

Place the bag into the freezer until you head out on your ramble.

One of the great things about winter camping is you don't need to worry as much about the food spoiling - just stick it in the snow!

Once in camp drop some oil or butter in your pan (I used olive oil), add the contents from the bag and cover the pan.

Place it over some heat (stove or coals from a fire), stir occasionally while it simmers until the food is nice and hot!

Enjoy!

Very little trash is generated in the field and clean up is simple.

Andy always eats like a king in the field. You should share your method of transporting and storing coffee.
