I don't use PayPal. I refuse. I hate sending a check in the mail which contains my personal account and routing number - everything required to electronically drain funds from my bank account. It's so - 1990s way of paying for something. So - a guy like me has no options when it comes to becoming a member.

Other members of the 2nd amendment community - who have been demonetized on platforms like YouTube - have turned to Patreon - who has been welcoming.

@Admin - think you could do something like that as a NES membership option?

Money order, cashiers check, Silver ingots, firstborn, bag of Coke, there are other ways to pay you know.
That's a PITA for both. I have to go out an acquire said money order, and pay for the privilege of doing so. The other end has to then take time to go cash said money order. Patreon is set and forget for both parties.... Again, checks, money orders.... I went to high school in the 1990s, but it would be nice to move beyond the decade's payment tech.

How is Patreon any more secure than PayPal, and Patreon takes 8% or more.
Checks can be forged, but banks will cover you.
And he takes MOs

To be honest, it sounds like you're just being difficult and want special treatment. He takes MOs, don't be lazy, go get one.

BTW just mailing cash, well packed, isn't likely to get stolen. It's not like you're sending a huge stack internationally.

Paypal and Patreon, the mordida is hidden. You see it up front with a MO.

He can do it or not do it. It's an idea to help the forum as it opens up membership opportunities. It's an idea to make his life easier by putting membership payments on autoPilot. Thus saving him, and the member time.

Catering to me - I'm sure - is of no interest. Nor would I expect it to be. But LOTS of 2nd amendment influencers, YouTube channels, etc. have moved here at this point. This place - is kind of behind the times in that regard. You make it sound like the suggestion is for some kind of abnormal practice... yet it's NES, that is the anomaly at this point by not offering the option.

Mine was paid for by an incredibly generous member.

Offer up a karma or sell sometjing and have the buyer pay for a membership instead. you might surprised.

I can't offer a Karma unless I'm a member... Catch22. Changing that was another suggestion I had.... It's kind of dumb that I have to pay to give something away for free.

The Paranoia shown here is unbelievable at times
I'm sure there's a Post-It note on some ATF computer, somewhere:

Site to watch.

But if most paranoid people really wanted to mess the system up, sign up for the DemocratUnderground, any other democrat/left/progressive website. Cross populate the websites and the data becomes irrelevant. I'm on board with the "Hi, Maura" replies, I'm sure 'they' swing by on occasion. Just like I'm on the DNC email list.

I've switched from trying to stay off lists, to seeing how many I can get on. He who dies on the most lists wins. [rofl]

I was wondering the same. In 30 years of writing thousands of checks it’s yet to happen?
As someone who has had his identity stolen, I can say you would think very differently if/when it ever happens to you. You would be surprised how easy it is once threat actors have certain information about you, like your bank account and routing number.

OP suggests Patreon over PayPal.
Patreon is no more secure than PayPal, and their fees are higher.

I don't give my money or use companies with a history of Anti-2nd amendment practices.

Technically, depending on how you interpret their acceptable use policy, even NES memberships paid for via PayPal would be in violation, as such memberships then afford you the opportunity to exchange firearms and ammunition. You're not allowed to use PayPal's service for transitions that relate to firearms and ammunition or firearms components. This place - feels like a relation...

So I would argue, that even accepting PayPal, carries risk of being canceled. Which is why 2nd amendment influencers do not use it.

I have an issue with PayPal. It says I have an account but when i call them they say it's too old to log in to. So I'm kind of out of luck. Which is normally fine except for here. I pay with check. I would prefer venmo or zelle but I'm not sure how that effects his business and its his decision. I mail checks throughout the year, so I don't really care but I do like instant gratification.
The PayPal problem is probably not common enough to find another route

With a washed check
Fraudulent checks are easy, it's the process and banks that protect the account holder, and the paper trail back to the person cashing it. Yes, this can too be defeated, it just takes more effort, and the account holder is still protected.
Paper check are one of the most secure means of money transfer, FOR THE ACCOUNT HOLDER. Not so much for the bank.
