Last April I had purchased a used Sig 1911 RCS. It shot great and felt like it was an extension of my hand. I soon saw on another forum that Sig had issues with their compact 1911s and checked mine frequently for the issues described. I was fortunate and had no signs of an issue. Then in December I began to experience FTF issues with the gun. I changed mags, no improvement. In January, I noticed the issues mentioned in the other forum and sent the gun to Sig for repair. They sent me an email a week later stating they had to replace my gun. After I asked for an approximate replacement date, I was told Diana, a customer service manager, would contact me with an update. She never did and multiple e-mails and voicemails went unanswered.
In March I began waiting on hold to speak with Sig CS agents and they could not give me any update on a delivery date. Finally in mid April one CS agent told me the issue is they are waiting on frames to come from Germany and he claimed they don't know how many they get at a time or how soon the next shipments will come. He also said Sig was filling replacements before new orders and one customer has been waiting since March of 09 for a new order. He also told me I could pursue other options for a replacement. I told him I would think about it.
I reviewed Sig's on-line catalog and called back (got another CS agent) and told them I would accept a P220 or P226 elite stainless which are priced close to the RCS. I was told a CS manager, Scott, would call me back with an answer. Scott never called. I then sent Ron Cohen, the President of Sig an email telling him the whole story and asking for a resolution. Within two hours Scott called me and within 2 days I had a replacement; a P226 elite stainless. I then took this to my gunstore and traded that plus some cash for a Les Baer Stinger!
