That's my feeling right now: he already killed himself.

If he was looking to get away/run from this, wouldn't he have worn a mask or something? That would have delayed identification for a few hours at least, giving him time to get on the road somewhere.

But then again, he's not in his right mind, so who knows.

I've been under a shelter in place "order" for a while now, so my brain wanders.
