What benefit does a one piece upper like lmt offer?

I've never owned one but looking at it seems like it would be harder to swap barrels.. clean the gas system

So curious why that's advantageous over a 2 piece upper

I have numerous LMT uppers. The LMT one piece upper benefit is that it literally takes a torque wrench and no other tools to swap barrels in under a minute if timed. Also when removing and reinstalling a barrel, there is minimal loss of zero. Additional benefits is fewer parts and a rigid monolithic top rail which helps place optics potentially further forward as well as laser modules not losing zero due to movement in handguards, etc. The uppers are lightweight but LMT barrel profiles are medium/heavy.

I didn't know that. I really assumed it was easier the 2 piece way

But i never really thought about it until i saw an lmt that caught my eye

Not gonna lie

Im about to drop some coin on land and didnt want to spend 3k on another ar i was really posting this for you dont need that.

And its just new fangled hotness my anderson is better nonsense

But you have just made me want to make a poor financial decision and buy another ar

Ohhh, then stay away from LMT shit. ARs are like adult Legos. LMTs are adult Legos on steroids.

Lol 99.9% of people don't do either of these things.
Yeah, I don’t get the point either. I much prefer the modularity of the standard AR configuration for being able to access and change/replace the upper receiver, barrels, gas blocks and handguards. LMT obviously is high quality, but seems like a solution searching for a problem.
