interesting, if very expensive: http://www.pilkguns.com/menu_ar15.shtml

We all know that one the best ways to practice in the off season is an air rifle and it certainly develops your skills, but there still numerous fine points of muscle memory and sight acquisition that cannot be the same as your Service Rifle, at least with traditional air rifles. But we decided that we could give you everything your want, the same as your target AR-15 has them already. The exact sight picture and EXACT trigger feel along with the exact feel of your buttstock weighted just the way you like it against your own cheek. How can we do that? Half of the answer is already in your hands, your personal AR-15 lower receiver. The other half is the new BF-17 upper that houses an air rifle action made by Pilkguns. The BF-17 upper uses actual AR-15 components like an A2 upper, front sight mount, charging handle and handguards. It also has National Match ¼ minute rear sights matched to a top quality .177 Lothar Walther barrel to put your shots in the X ring where we know you have the talent to place them.

Initial pricing is $750 for the BF-17 upper with ¼ minute rear sights. Contact us for lower pricing with standard rear sights. A discount of $50 is available for the first 15 purchasers who place a $250 deposit.

Neat but cheap! Who the hell wants a hose band painted with spray paint to hold the guards.

At that price, go get 2 bumble bees and enjoy shooting in single, three and six round bursts.

So, we've established this thing is way too expensive (unless maybe you were a super competative shooter)... but what would you pay?

...and what kinds of features would you want? What would a 10rnd mag (vs. single shot) be worth to you?

OK, I'll play.[wink]
If someone could engineer one of these with say a 30-100 round magazine, (I'm thinking tube mag running up the barrel),make it semi auto, maybe add some form of happy switch (think Drodz), I'd be willing to get into the $200 - $300 price range to get one. As currently configured I wouldn't go over $100 for it.

I once tried the Ciener .22LR adapter in my upper, with Aguila Colibri (primer-only, no gunpowder) .22 long in my basement. Shooting the AR15 at 25 feet isn't that challenging though. But it is quieter than an air pistol. And no, it does not have enough recoil to cycle the bolt :-)

I love my 22lr upper. And someone at the range I was shooting at said his air rifle was quieter... not sure if it was true or not...or maybe it was cuz he had ear plugs on with my rifle and not on his air rifle?

But that upper is really cool.
