AKOU posted this on Facebook today and I was wondering - if you remove the rear sight block or leaves on an AK, couldn't you put a picatinny rail there and mount a small optic? Maybe remove the front sight too? I mean iron sights aren't the most popular feature on guns these days and the only 100% reliable AK optic mount I know of is the RS Regulate system.

I prefer Iron Sights myself. All the AKs I own have a side rail for mounting optics, but I never use it. At the same time I won't buy an AK without one.

And Smith & Wesson, Ruger, that sniper rifle company, that other company that makes something and said/did something....

Now that we got that out of our system...back to removing AK sites and just making it a flap-top.

Looks like it would be in the way of the trigger.

Anyway, optics on an AK kills the whole clean it in a pond, lube it with bacon fat mystique.
not in the way 1 bit, actually never notice it. I only use a optic because im looking for 1 inch groups , the hitting steel is easy and got bored.
