I'm a big fan of the P99. Only polymer pistol I not only didn't hate, but became one of my favorites. haven't gotten my hands on a PPQ yet. 16 preban rounds of 9mm is certainly adequate but 12 of .45 is really tempting. Not even sure if they're MA legal but the 9mm PPQs are I believe.

I know this is a bit off topic, but the PPQ 9mm five inch pistol has the worst grip I have ever encountered. I shot the gun in a couple of matches and practice sessions and gave up.

Which PPQ? PPQ of PPQ M2? Also which backstrap - They are interchangeable

For me, the PPQ is one of the best fitting guns, compared to say a glock 17 or 19 which feel like crap in my hand.

Shockingly, everyone's hands are different.

Conversely, I love the trigger on the PPQ... One of the easiest gins for me to operate effectively, though I eventually would change out the sights

the PPQ in 9mm is a gem. one of my favorites. up there with the P320 and G19. unfortunately the PPQ in 40 and 45 are snappy as hell, mostly due to the light slide. i have not yet shot the PPQ in 45 but my father had one (he's a PPQ fan boy). with the PPQ 45 he didn't like the recoil impulse. i've heard this same issue from many others. if you watch some youtube videos many of the people don't want to complain about recoil but just watch the pistol jump around in their hand.

look at the slide and frame weights on a PPQ vs. a glock. the PPQ has too much weight in the frame and too little weight in the slide. they're also undersprung in .40 and .45. the result is sharp recoil impulse. for this reason i have zero interest in the PPQ 45acp. as usual, your results may be different from mine.

Less weight in the slide will result in a lower recoil impulse with the right spring. Check out the USPSA Limited guns; most have lightened slides to reduce recoil/muzzle flip.

My problem with the M2 five in barrel 9mm is the grip itself, not the replaceable back straps. There is a raised hump to prevent the ambi mag release on the right side from being accidentally operated. This hump hits the knuckle (middle finger) of my right hand making a comfortable grip impossible. Changing back straps (larger) can ease the problem but not solve it and I prefer the smaller back strap as it better fits my small hand. The real solution would be to grind the hump off. This would severely reduce resale value and I am pretty sure this gun is on the way out.
