One thing I noticed about searching is that I was looking for Reading rifle & revolver, but any post that mentions reading a book would come up. Arg.

At any rate, I live just down the street from Eastern, which looks quiet & cheap - both things that appeal to me. I don't want to go somewhere if I'm dependent on a range officer. But with no magnum loads allowed, I can't shoot my .357 or .44, and you can only shoot the targets at the full 50 ft, rather than placing them at 10 yards if you want to.

I would like to find someone familiar with Reading, and possibly a member. The idea of indoor & outdoor pistol, plus a 600 yard rifle range appeals to me if I can actually get in there and become a member.

Anyone have any feedback on this place or know any current members?

I live around the corner. I have heard it is invite only and they are not hot to increase membership. But others here have more info. I even seem to remember someone saying they go to matches there but have never been invited to join despite doing well in the matches. YMMV but it would be nice given how close I live.

I sent an email but still haven't heard back. I'll update this if I hear anything. Maybe they only check emails on a weekly basis?
Most gun clubs are run by unpaid volunteers. As such, it is typically catch as catch can. Don't be surprised if it can be hard to get hold of them. If there is a phone number, try that as well. If they have regular meetings, crash a meeting and have a chat with an officer.

At most gun clubs, the same six people do almost all the work around the place, in between their jobs and their lives. So be persistent and cut them some slack. It's not a business with full time employees and, in fact, probably has no paid employees at all.

I'm a member at RR&R. If you go there on a Saturday or Sunday morning there is always a match going on and there are always a lot of members around. Just start a conversation with someone and see about getting an application. I belive you will need a member as a sponsor.

I hope my comments didn't come across as snide - I really did mean that they may only look at email weekly, such as a volunteer.

They weren't taken that way. I was just trying to let you know that gun clubs are often run in a haphazard fashion, and not to take it personally if it is hard to get hold of them. Jarhead's suggestion is the best one -- head on over during a match and try to pin someone down.
