Anyone have a S&W 686 SSR?

Interested in getting my first revolver in 357 magnum and this looks interesting at the S&W site. Anyone have any opinions on this revolver?

I qualified with one for the revolver portion of Firearms Instructor at the S&W Academy. It shot awesome and the trigger is slicker than dogsh** If I was going to buy any 686 it would be this one. Excellent gun.

I shot one at S&W's last product shoot. It has a sweet trigger and a nice balance. If I were looking for another 686 this is what I would buy.

Try to get your hands on one to see if the lightened barrel feels right to you. If you prefer the stock barrel weight you may be better served by bringing a stock 686 to a good smith for a trigger job and charge hole chamfering.

and for about 1/2 to 2/3 the $$ too, but the ssr is a pretty revolver.

I have a standard 686 and would recomend it to anyone without reservation.

I picked one up as soon as it shipped. (middle revolver). Its called the "Pro Series" 686SSR. One step above stock, one step below Performance Center. I think its the best 686 made.

Yeah, me too. But the difference is that boltonguy just lives a few houses down from me, and will wave it around under my nose until I break.

I'm not so sure - that hasn't worked yet with the M1A and I've had to clean plenty of your drool off it!

After much trial and error, I like this setup best for my 686 SSR. Desantis open top speed scabbard. There's one available with a snap top too.
