I have an SR9c and Im still learning how to shoot it. In browsing the web I have seen multiple sights out there and thought I would ask if anyone around has put sights on theirs. If anyone is relatively local to the Quincy area and willing to let me try it out, I can bring my own ammo and hopefully can meet a new shooting friend.

What kind of sights - night sights? I found the factory sights satisfactory on my SR9c, but some nice tritium night sights would have been nice also.

Ya, Definitely night sights. Something easy to acquire the target yet still be able to shoot good groups and see the intended point of impact. Im either still too new having to put the front sight covering where I want to shoot or its not for me.

I put xs big dots on my 9c. I like the dot the i concept for fast acquisition but as a do over i would get the normal sized front dot. I prefer my sights compact and the big dot is rather large.

I'm going to swing by GFA in Natick tomorrow and see if they can give me hand installing the HiViz fiber on my SR9c. I like the contrast of the green fiber front and white dot rear. Works for me. I installed the same on my wife's LC9, but the front sight on the SR9c seems to be binding up and I don't want to f it up.

Aloha

Looked around, but never did anything with them.

Factory shoots low with 115 FMJ, so I bumped up the rear. Would like a night sight, but I would likely go with something small for fast target acquisition. Don't know if I'd change the rear.

I too also have an SR9c and well is actually my only hand gun at this time, but I find the sights satisfactory for me right now. Yet since I have a restricted LTC I'm not able to carry around anyway. So at home I have other firearms that I use for my home defense, and I'm more worried about getting use to those sights first anyway. I would though like to see other handguns and sights, for carry use later on.

I put a set of Meprolight (IIRC) night sights on my SR9 about a year ago. It's my 'bedroom gun' and I wanted to make sure I could see the sights under all conditions. Even with a flashlight, they still glow bright enough to see.

They are a little harder to see in daylight than the stock sights, but not too much. And they were pretty easy to install.

I put mepros on mine. Very easy to DIY. Good to have a flatter piece of brass around as the rear dovetail is pretty wide.

I am not quite there with deciding if I want a sight upgrade as I am on day 2 snuggling up to my new love. I just located and purchased a SR9c yesterday (Northshore has 1 left, Four Seasons only has two tone). I shot a SR9 prior, and thought is was pretty good. Now, after putting some rounds through the 9c, I am smitten. I really love this Ruger. It fits my hand perfectly (use the finger extension so, nonexistent recoil, and lovely trigger. Like many it seems, was going back and forth between a a M&P Shield, and the SR....but after shoot a non-trigger job version M&P I was swayed away. So, after $459 (cash + tax), I have a great pistol which is a hoot to shoot without forking out extra for a better trigger. I highly recommend it.

Btw, this is my first handgun purchase. Been shooting a SR22 for a few weeks to build some skill cheaply and thought that would been my 1st purchase as a trainer. However, lack of inventory for purchase sent me directly to my 1st choice in the SR9c when I located one. Shot both in same session yesterday and I had better groupings with the 9c. Now I better invest/learn to reload cause this gonna get expensive :-)

I like the C better then the fullsize, BETTER trigger, and I didn't think it got better out of box for a MA compliant gun, but the 9c is much nicer to shoot then the full, fits my hands perfect, small enough to conceal, great to shoot...I've not considered upgrading the sights though, they work fine for me

I'm just going to pose this question here. my brain isn't working and i feel retarded stupid right now.

If my sr22 (pistol) is shooting high, do i adjust the sights higher or lower?
If it's shooting to the left, do i move the sight to the right, or more to the left?

The Ruger sights should sit at 6 0'clock, not cover your target. If your sight is set up to cover the target, simply adjust the elevation on the rear sight. In this case you want your shots to hit higher (so that you can hold your point of aim lower, below the target), so you would raise your rear sight.

Move the rear sight in the direction you want to move your shots. If your shots are hitting too high, you want them to hit lower so you would lower your rear sight. If your shots are hitting to the left, you want to move them to hit to the right, so you would move your rear sight to the right.

If there's ever a question about which way to move your rear sight, just act it out with your fingers. Hold up two fingers as your rear sight, and put your pointer finger out front between them as your front sight. Move your rear sight, and then see which way your front sight (and the muzzle of the gun) moves to line up again. So like above said, rear sight moves down, you'll drop the front sight and muzzle down to get lined up again, so your groups will do the same.

It seems simple, but every once in a while I have to act it out to make sure I'm doing the right thing, lol.
