I was given a bizarre rifle today. It is a a513T that was converted to a single shot and I think rechambered to .22 WMR. The bolt doesnt look like a Remington bolt. Can someone take a couiple of pictures of pictures of the bolt face? Thanks

Thanks. They pinned a block of wood into place. I dont think that the bolt that is in it is the original bolt as it doesnt look like any Remington bolts. It fires. When I got home I took a couple of .22 LRs and chambered and fired them. First one bulged and the second one split. That got me thinking. I then took a brass rod and looked at the length of the chamber and it is rather long about an inch. Who ever did this went through a lot of effort. The stock is a single shot stock and they even added 6 inches to the end of the stock. It doesnt eject the cases, you have to pull them off the extractors. It is drilled and tapped for a weaver sidemount scope base. I am going to get a box of .22 WMR this afternoon. Have a scope mount kicking around so I am going to put a scope on it and see how it shoots. If it shoots well then I will see what I can do to improve it. If it shoots lousy I might see what a .22 barrel costs for it.

Gotta remember, 40 years ago, these were old rifles, not collectibles! All kinds of odd stuff was done to them. I have a Luger that my dad used as a practice piece for polishing and blueing....more waves in the barrel than in Boston harbor! [laugh]

I have an M1922 that's converted to 22K-Hornet....one of my best trades! [smile]

That is what I am thinking. The .22WMR was a new cartridge 50 yrs ago and someone had this rifle lying around. Its like Mausers in the 50s and 60s. My buddy sported dozens of them. He would drive up to Century in VT and buy 20 at a time for next to nothing.

Tried a .22 WMR tonight and it didnt fit. It looks like there is a little burr on the chamber that it is catching on. A .22 LR fits and wiggles. Going to touch it with a little lapping compound and see if I can remove the burr.
