I might as well warn people so they won't go through all the bother that I'm going to have to do.

I just bought a couple of packs of 7.62X54R ammo for my Mosin Nagant.

I noticed that the bullets in the pack (Those creepy brown-paper packs that come out of the spam-cans) had silver tips, and were stamped "21" and "72" on the heads.

I was conserned that it was steel-core rounds that they made so many of for the SVD rifle.

Well they told me that it was "light ball, training rounds".

nope, not at all.

it's light ball, steel-core rounds. That means I can't shoot them at MRA, and I have to take them back.

A while back I also bought a few packs of this stuff too.

Again, light ball, steel core, and they guys behind the counter had NO idea.

So just be careful on the surplus rounds you buy, and if you shoot 7.62X54R guns, this sight is AWESOME.

I have some of those rounds too.. I found that in one of the packs it took 2 strikes of the firing pin to get the round to fire. I did find, though much more expensive(about twice the price) the S&B ammo is MUCH more accurate, and MUCH more clean.

Thanks for the info

I'm sure I'm not the only one on this list who would like to know what shop is so helpful as to accept returns on ammo.

Weer'd,

Waddaya got for Mosins? I've got a 38 and a 39 both in excellent shape. I love shooting them. They sure turn heads !

I have a 1952 Hungarian-made M44.

It's nothing as pritty as yours, and the bolt is miss-matched.

But it's fun to shoot, and it doesn't put a dent in the wallet as much as some other guns.

And at Mass Rifle REALLY turns some heads at the Loeb range. 8)

the other night I was shooting my M44, and some guy had just bought a H&K G3 with a muzzle break. It was pretty damn loud in there!

Arrrr
