As everyone knows the Mass trigger is ridiculous. I am just curious what everyone's thoughts are on putting this kit in a carry gun? I have one in my M&P 9 full size and it is great so when I go to shoot my shield it becomes even more apparent that the trigger is supper heavy. The weight of the trigger IMHO is to the point where it hurts accuracy. It is to where if I cant convince myself it is ok to have the APEX in a carry gun I am switching to the sr9c which for some reason has the best striker fired MA trigger I have ever felt.

Why are you even even doubting putting it in your carry piece???....

DCAEK- Duty Carry Action Enhancement Kit

My carry M&P 40c has the an Apex DCAEK, Ram, and AEK trigger.

I know your right and then I think about what state I am in. If I lived in Georgia I wouldn't think twice.

I live in MA and didn't think twice. I'm not following you on this.

There is nothing illegal in putting an Apex kit in your firearm in MA. The trigger/MA Compliant bullshit only applies to retail sale of a firarm.

I am more worried about how you would portrayed if God for bid you had to use your firearm.
I am leaning towards putting the apex in I am just playing devils advocate a little bit.

That must be a really fun gun to shoot. Always wanted to try AEK trigger

There is nothing to play devils advocate about.....it isn't illegal.

if your ever put in a situation where you have to use it, I would give a **** less about how someone may potray you afterwords. And I highly doubt their portrayal will be based on if your shield had a stock trigger or a DCAEK [laugh]

its a blast, Super smooth. If your in the South Central Ma area your more than welcome to try it.

This type of "thinking" has been espoused by Mass Ayoob and a few others but has no know basis in reality. This runs along the same lines of using hollow points in your EDC. Some people tend to worry too much about "what if" when it really doesn't matter.
The bottom line is, if it is a good shoot, then what gun/caliber/bullet/trigger you use will not be an issue, only the circumstances.

If it is a questionable shoot, then the circumstances will be very closely looked at.

Fear not.

I guess my point is it is not your decision if it is a good shoot. It is the DA and then a jury. I am with you in that it shouldn't matter as long as you intended to pull the trigger what lbs the trigger pull is.

The reason I am leaning towards doing the dcaek is because I am pretty sure on a mass gun the pull is still more then a stock glock.

Im trying to understand your thought process still but I can't......

That is fine you have obviously become more comfortable with modifying your carry gun. I am not at that point yet I suppose.

No, I meant what you said about the glock trigger pull. You seem like your afraid of a lighter trigger weight in general. Side note, he DCAEK will be lighter than a stock glock (pretty sure of that).

Just pointing out that it might not be viewed any different then other production firearms.
I've shot a decent amount of glocks and my full size with a dcaek feels similar in pull weight to them. Although I have not put a gauge on it.

Not to hijack the thread, but is there a preferred placed to buy the DCAEK and poly trigger? Is it best to just go to the Apex web site?

I always go to the Apex site

It can't be viewed any different because there is no law to allow it to be viewed different.

I don't view putting an apex kit in as modifying your carry gun. What you're doing is bringing the trigger closer to what is stock for evey other state. It could be argued that having a 10 lb crap trigger is far more dangerous (less accurate) Then a smooth 5lb one

I've got the Apex kit on my Shield, and I love it very much. However, Lou from Business End Customs offers a similar if not superior option for a carry trigger; the Apex kit breaks very far to the rear, and (per Lou, thoughts from the crowd?) the trigger will eventually fail to function.

That must only be a shield issue for the DCAEK?

Apex posted about this regarding install of their AEK trigger. You need to change the slope of the sear in order to get it to properly engage the striker to increase the over-travel. This can easily be done by using feeler gauges and finding the correct spacing after install. Again....this is what Apex recommends for the AEK trigger and I dont know if its the same as the Shield issue, but it sounds it. Apex has a Youtube channel and you can see what I am talking about in their AEK trigger install video.

The first thing I did when I got my SD9VE was pop in an Apex and I haven't looked back. Love it.
OK - First I put 10 rounds down range as bought just to do it for finger exercise. Then I went and....

At that point, you've probably already killed someone. That's plenty of shiz for an overzealous prosecutor to use to make you seem like the devil himself to the jury.

I mean, it could always be worse. But in your hypothetical scenario, you didn't toast some 1%er with an AC-556 set to "FUN" so I wouldn't be too worried about it.
