So I just purchased the duty/carry enhancement kit for my M&P45. Is this kit easy to install? I have built a few ARs so I'm thinking this should go easy, I watched the you tube videos and it looks pretty straight forward.

I just did it a week ago or so. Pretty simple stuff. Take your time, be patient and have all your tools ready and it shouldn't be a problem. I think I took a little over an hour to do it. Most of that was spend coaxing the rear sight out of it's dovetail with care. The videos are spot on. There are no surprises there.

I installed mine myself, no problem. I recommend a magnifying glass and some good tweezers. You'll also need a punch set and a hammer. The rear sight is tough to get off and back on. I did a little sanding on the bottom of it before reinstalling it. I had to grind a special punch to get the sight off. I almost resorted to my arbor press because I had to hit it so hard I thought I was going do some damage. Make sure you have a good solid back stop if your using the punch and hammer method. A rear sight tool is a good investment here but many people install it fine with a punch and hammer, including me. The plunger under the seer is the smallest piece and requires the most attention not to loose. Remember to lube the parts as you go.

Good luck!!

How's it feel? That thing was BRUTAL.

I soaked mine with Kroil a great lubricant, Brownells sells it. WD-40 should work.

Until I lubed it and let it soak in I was inventing swears. After a good soaking it was like night and day.

Hope this helps.

Night and day. Before, pulling the trigger was like dragging a rusty sled across broken pavement only not as pleasant. Now it has a nice light, crisp pull. Very similar to my M&P9c although I never replaced the trigger spring on that so its even lighter. The only thing that's not great is the lack of noticeable reset. They don't have a RAM for the 45 yet. The reset is still better than it was but its not pronounced.

put the APEX kit in my M&P 9c, what a big difference! Now I can shoot 2' 5 shot groups. It still needs a little more work, but shots 100% better.

I just muscled it. Wasn't easy, but I got it out without any damage to tools or sight.

And regarding inventing swears? "Donkey-reaming ***-chongler" was what came out of my mouth shortly before the sight came free.

Don't know what it means, but man, was it satisfying to say.

I need a clarification, is there a "different" kit for the MA M&P 45s. In another part of the forum I read where a person had a non-mass 45 and he needed the normal kit? apex's site doesn't have a MA or non-MA kit that I could see and it was my understanding that you just don't use the sear spring that comes with the kit. Is this correct.

Thanks

APEX makes a great kit. I had a Mass "smith" do a trigger job on my 40C. He claimed how great it would be. BS! I installed and APEX kit in my full size 40...puts the "trigger job" on my compact to shame...no comparison

Well the kit finally came in and was real easy to install. It took about half an hour and the hardest part was the trigger spring. Trigger is very much inproved

I will reiterate here the desire for a similar kit for Ruger P-Series, and the large potential demand for same.
