Approved Firearms Roster For 09-2009

Confused

Now I'm confused, I have a few dealers in MA that say they either have or can get 90-Two's? Are they outright lying or are there pre-bans available or something?

Read the thread hollewud posted above. Some dealers don't care or don't know the compliance regs. There is a useful skill in this case though- it's called not looking the gift horse in the mouth. [laugh]

There are no pre-ban 90 Two's, as they were released in 2006(?).

If a FFL is willing to sell you one, what's the problem? There is no legal liability for you to purchase/possess it.

This thread should answer any questions you have regarding "compliance":

Maybe they confused it with 92.

Good point.

Maybe they confused it with 92.

Probably.... I vote for the "90-two" as being the dumbest model name/number for a handgun, ever. I mean, what were they thinking? Do the Beretta sales reps want their dealers to have a "who's on first" discussion with their customers everytime someone picks up the phone? [laugh]

Customer: "I'm looking for the new Beretta 90-two."

Dealer: "Oh, the 92FS... we've got those."

Customer: "No, I'm looking for the 90-two!"

Dealer: "I just told you...."

Customer: (bangs head against wall, throws phone)

Epic Product naming FAIL.

I had the opposite conversation with a Cabelas Gun Library guy recently:

ME: Do you have any model 92's?

Cabelas: Sure, we have several 90-2's.......

ME: Can I see them please?

Cabelas brings a couple out and they are all 90-2's.

Dumb, dumb, dumb.... the guy should have at least asked me (or maybe I should have been specific) if I wanted a 90-2 or a 92.

It's right up there with Core 2 Duo... [laugh]

How do you access the AG's list?

I have been wondering the same thing. I have had many people tell me she does not have her own list but a set of safety standards that handguns must meet and as you probably already know just because a firearm is on the list doesn't mean she has approved it according to her own standards. Having two different standards makes getting certain firearms in this state worse the California (not sure if thats really true but it feels like it sometimes and if you look at the CA DOJ approved list it is waaaaay longer than ours in MA).

The MA AG's office DOES NOT publicize a list or in any way make any declaratory statement on any gun EVER... They basically tell OEMs that at the time the firearm's description is sent to the AG's office (because no handgun gets sent to the AG) that they found nothing wrong with it based on that description but that if they should, the fact that at one time they didn't does not absolve the OEM of any responsibility. So basically an OEM must sell their handgun before they get any sort of definitive statement it is compliant. If they don't get sued for some amount of time, it is assumed they are OK, but they are not ever OK.
