Approximate value? Colt Preban Ar15 - 7.62/39

Anyone care to guess on the value of a Colt AR-15, preban, 7.62x39, A2, short barrel. I don't know how many mags and it appears to be in pretty decent shape.

$900-1,200 - preban mags are hard to come by

The 7.62X39 AR's have issues with magazines - the Franken mags are un reliable, so you are stuck with 5-10 rounds mags. Personally, it's only value for me would be the preban lower, however, you may find a collector/hunter that wants to get the whole rifle. You could get around 1000 for it or so.
Also by short barrel - do you mean 16" or less than 16"?

I didn't honestly check as the price seemed to be a bit on the high side. But I am quite confident it's a 16".

I figured being a Colt it would needlessly raise the price and being a preban would also (rightfully). But the shop is asking a serious penny for it.

Do a search on gunbroker.com for pre-ban Colts. You can always get a rifle sent to an FFL.

Don't buy, I had one and it was really hard to get mags. I ended up selling the upper and using the pre-ban upper, but it's not worth it to do that unless you can get the whole rifle for 1K or less

You'll see them for sale at shops for $1200-$1600, but I wouldn't pay that for it...
