Really wanted to build one of these and now that the douc** bag has made that not possible without uprooting my family. So, what are some new options? Next best rifle in 308 that won't get me arrested.
Thanks

Build a "sniper rifle" - .308 bolt with a scope: sooner or later they will ban scopes (srs). A good bolt with a dialed in scope could be a useful toy.

You can buy my AR-10 Pre-ExPostFacto-Ban

Price. $1,000,000 and you have to bang Someone's "wife" , film it, and say "my what a lovely tea party" once the deed is done.

I find myself wondering what is the coolest rifle we can still legally buy? I want to buy something in protest and help out an LGS.

Maybe a Barrett bolt-action (Model 95 or 99)? Who sells Barrett's here anyway - owning one has been on my bucket list for awhile.

What else?

Love my Rem 700 LTR with a vortex 5-20 on there. It's a bolt action and only holds 4 rounds in the internal mag. Must be for deer per the second amendment. Need sub 0.5 MOA for hunting.

Maybe we should start a Consolation Buy List.

As I mentioned elsewhere, fake ARs
-POF Revolt
-Troy PAR

There is a ton of tactical style bolt action rifles. Usually they are unpleasantly expensive.

Affordable:
Mossberg MVP-LC

Affordable and good:
Ruger Precision Rifle

Expensive:
Desert Tech stuff, the non semi one
Accuracy International
Barrett

The AR10 is not interchangeable with the AR and does not have compatible parts.. still banned? Or are all semi autos banned because they are similar in function? Gosh this new normal is confounding.

Ruger Precision legal? It has one of those.. Evil folding stocks. Watched a video on youtube looks pretty sweet. Oh yah, its black too!

But she said folding stocks are just cosmetic (as we have always known).

Its a joke can you imagine the gun sales going forward! I'm good for 2 a year but since this I am going to at least 4 or more. As many as I can afford. Damn, I need a bigger safe now.

the Savage model 10 FCP-SR is straight badass. highly recommend if you're looking for a very accurate bolt action that doesn't kill the wallet. they can be had for under $700, come with optics pic rail already installed and a threaded muzzle. The 20" model is perfect. They make a 24" barrel model too but IMO unnecessary in .308. Comes w a 10 rd detacheable mag which is great but stupid expensive. They sell 4 rd mags that are much cheaper to have as extras.

No matter how hot the barrel gets they are still accurate. I've never seen stringing. they've overbuilt like a tank. honestly the accuracy is simply awesome. It's a $650 rifle that deserves a $2k optic.

The Savage Model 11 scout is also cool but I'm not into scout optics configurations. Just not my thing but still cool rifle.

Now the rifle I am dying to check out is the Henry Long Ranger. I called Henry yesterday and they haven't started shipping quite yet but should start within a week or two. It's a lever action rifle but detachable mag and chambered in .223 or .308. The Henry build quality is simply superb. Their CS is just as good. This rifle in .223 is definitely on my short list. It would be a blast at the range.
