Hey guys, Can you suggest me a best caliber at this present time, I'm seeking to buy a new one for hunting purpose.

The 15 is going to be a lot cheaper.

Either is fine as long as you can actually hit things you aim at in the required areas to put them down. You can hunt deer with a .22lr as long as you hit them in the brain pan.

The real answer is it depends how good of a shot/hunter you are, what game you're hunting and the distance you want to hunt at.

I am not a hunter... Isn't there a flipside? Don't some states have a minimum caliber requirement?

Yes and/or a power factor, mass * velocity must be at least X to use on Y animal.

Also depending on the state and the animal also the number of rounds you can load etc.

Really comes down to know the rules for the state you are hunting in as they are all different.

i will never understand the purpose of an autoloading firearm for hunting. a bolt action rifle can be had for less cost and much lighter. the difference in $$ can go to top quality rings and optics, which will be far more valuable to hunting purpose than having a semi auto. perhaps varmint (e.g. coyote) hunting if you're going to engage multiple at once. i have zero experience there.

What are you hunting and where?

yup this^ rather important information.

Where do you live? Mags, use, and cost would influence me heavily. I'd do Ar15 for my purposes. 15 mags are cheap and easy to find. More parts available. Ammo at .30/rd or less. AR10s are cool but mags are more expensive and have limited capacity. .308 is kind of a pricy round too. I doubt there's anything I'd need the extra bang for anyway. In that case the mosin would probably work.

There's always one smart guy. That's a good thing.

1 or 2 mags is all you need for a hunting gun. So their cost is pretty much irrelevant.

277 Wolverine. Wildcat for now but you can buy loaded ammo. Shoots everything from 90gr Gold Dots to 195gr subs out of a 1:7 twist barrel. Uses all AR15 parts except the barrel. Mags, bolts etc are standard AR parts unlike 6.8spc or 6.5 Grendel with 95% of the performance of those cartridges in terms of ballistics.
