Did a ton of research and reading. These are the scopes I am thinking about. Rifle is an AR15 .223 with 16inch barrel 1x7 twist. Purpose is range use with some use out in the field and home defense. Want tight groups 100-300 yards and CQB.

Any opinions are appreciated.

Thanks!

Burris 1-4x24 Xtreme Tactical XTR 30mm Rifle Scope
Trijicon 4x32 Acog Rifle Scope TA31F .223 Red Chevron
Trijicon 3.5x35 Acog Rifle Scope TA11F .223 Red Chevron
NIGHTFORCE-NXS1-4X 24 Mil Dot
US OPTICS SN-4S 1-4x

I just picked up the Trijicon TA31ECOS for my SIG 556. I went with this for the crosshair reticle pattern on the ACOG and the doctor red dot sight for CQB.

I have a couple of the ACOGS (although not the models you asked about) and they are awesome scopes. Optics are great. The BAC really works and is not just marketing hype. They are rugged and well made, will hold zero, etc.

Nightforce and U.S. Optics both have top notch reputations for the quality of their glass and their ruggedness. Unfortunately don't have first hand experience with either. As for the Burris, I do have a Burris scope, although again not that model. However, I would say that generally as a mgf. Burris is not even remotely in the same class as Nightforce or U.S. Optics. Of course it's also not in the same price range.

Since all the scopes your talking about (with the possible exception of the Burris) are big bucks, I'd do a bunch of research. Might try posting this question on Opticstalk forum. You will definitely find people willing to offer you an opinion - some of them are even pretty knowledgeable and will have first hand experience with the scopes you mention.
