AR buffer tube fail

Figured I'd mess with an older AR I have and put a rifle stock on it. Based on these pictures, looks like I'll need a longer tube? I don't have enough dam thread to attach. In fact, I am not even sure how the previous tube/stock even fit...

looks like you are trying to put a castle nut on an a1/a2 rifle extension tube.

Did you strip out the threads? What happened, was this during assembly or firing?

the stock keeps the spring in place.

Yeah the spring you just compress against the buttstock and the spring hits the detent that's closest to the stock.
