AR Quality

Heard the name. If you aren't getting any ridiculous deal two of the best known producers also currently have the best prices: Spikes Tactical and Bravo Company USA (BCM).

I have a High Standard lower receiver that I got super cheap in CA a few years back. It went together just fine, and has a few thousands rounds fired. But it is just the lower, they are all the same.

To get at that price point, corners had to be cut somewhere to get it there. Also look at what your going to do with the rifle. A few thousand rounds over the course of a year or two is going to affect a rifle differently than a rifle with the same round count in 1 weekend.

If its just going to be a plinker, wont be bad. If in your wildest dreams think you may need it for more, go BCM or other top end makers.

I can build a BCM middy for about $900. Yes it may be bare bones but at least those bones are going to be quality. I don't know how much a stripped lower goes for in MA but I guess that can change the dynamic. My last build with a BCM:
BCM middy w/BCG- $525
stripped lower- $80
trigger group and receiver extension- $100
buffer and spring $25
Tango Down grip $30
Magpul MOE stock $60
KAC ambi mag release $60
Magpul BUIS $55

Like I said, basic but very possible and I know it's not going to just go to crap.

I'd pass, and go for better quality....

Why pay more than that for what is essentially a "plinker"? If it works, great; you saved a ton of money. If something doesn't work, it's cheap and easy to fix.
For $600, we can buy it assuming it's not the top-of-the-line AR. It might not be the most accurate barrel, and the trigger is probably junk (like 95% of ALL factory triggers), but the thing will probably go bang every time it's pulled.

I don't know the OP and can't make any assumptions about what he wants this rifle to do, but based on what the majority of the shooting public does with their guns, I'll stick with my recommendation.

If Brownells carries High Standard parts they should be a reputable MFR. Brownells doesn't deal in crap.

Just the way I am, I guess. I'd rather save for another 2 weeks, and get the best I can afford, instead of cutting any corners and regretting anything down the road. If buying cheap stuff works for you, go for it.

brownells backs everything they sell.....if you think its crap send it back, no questions asked!
Pat, just a wondering.......where is that picture from looks like a nice long range for some nice distance shooting. Also what fire arm is in the pic ?

That's the Viale range at the 600yd line out at camp Perry. The rifle is my #1 NM AR15 which is a hodge-podge of parts I put together: Stag lower, White Oak upper, Bushmaster small parts, Geisselle trigger, etc..

kinda figured that wasnt maine, I dont think I will ever get out to perry. lucky to get on a 200yard range a few times a year
