One of the AR15s I just built has a small amount of play or wiggle between the upper and lower receiver. I am wondering if this is normal or something to be concerned with. I have not yet had a chance to fire it as I just finished recently. Everything about the rifle seems to function flawlessly short of actually firing a round. Could this be because the upper and lower are different manufacturers? That would seem odd to me though because my other AR is set up like that with no play at all. Any help is appreciated!

Yeah that's normal, doesn't affect the functionality or accuracy. But, How much "play" are we talking about? A bit of a rattle? A wiggle between upper and lower that you can feel?

Might need a little trimming depending on your wiggle.

I had that ready to post here, but I figured that he wouldn't need it. People get freaked out by play but it's normal (as long as it's not a big rattle)

And if it really bothers you OP: you can always do the O-ring trick

Its definitely not a big rattle. Both those seem like solid options. That o-ring trick looks perfect though for what Im dealing with, the visual is great. Thanks for the help and quick response
