Are the M&P 15-22 and Sig Spear LT (bought pre-8/1 but post-2016) legal under new bill?

Will these two firearms, purchased post 2016, pre 8/1, be OK to own once the new bill takes effect? Bought at an MA shop by MA LTC holder.

From my understanding, the only concern is whether or not they would be considered duplicates of the AR-15. Since duplicates appear to not be grandfathered in.

Just trying to understand the new laws. Thanks

Edit: if yes, will it be legal to put adjustable stocks on them like a grandfathered pre-94?

Have you tried looking at the list of what is considered a duplicate? The AG has a FAQ listing what it considered duplicates directly on the face of the FAQ, takes probably 5 seconds to google it.

There is a reason sig spears are selling by the pallet currently.

Another approach is to just stop caring and do whatever you want within your own risk tolerance.

I bought the same pair of rifles on 8/1 at CGW. The M&P 15-22 is excluded from copies and duplicates designation by the AG’s 2016 FAQ because it’s a .22 rifle. The Spear to my understanding is a different enough mechanism that it’s not a C&D either.
