I'm not listening to it, but here's the thing: it's illegal for the Army to enforce laws against civilians. Even if it wasn't, it's institutionally repugnant. So whatever "questionnaire" this was (and many, many vets exaggerate things that happened while they're in service, usually to prove a point), it's moot.

I'm not saying it couldn't happen. I'm saying it won't. The .gov has many other ways to try to seize guns without risking a high-profile mutiny.

It is also illegal to infringe on our right to bear arms, but that doesn't stop these Communist lunatics. They just need the power to do it.

A national guard Soldier enlistment oath includes allegiance to the governor of the state. The oath taken is actually different from an active duty enlistment oath.

There’s a critical difference called the UCMJ. Cops who follow illegal orders and/or infringe on our constitutional rights often (not always) receive qualified immunity under civil and criminal law. Military officers who do the same thing are in explicit violation of a law, a law they know very well, and are accountable both upwards and downwards. My feeling as that most politicians would be too afraid of US military noncompliance to even try.

Note, I’m not suggesting the .mil would actively stand up and DEFEND our rights against the civil authorities either. I think they’d sit it all out. Hopefully we’ll never need to find out.

I get what you're saying, but if a ban became law and somehow passed SCOTUS, what you are saying is irrelevant. They would be enforcing a 'lawfully given order' to confiscate guns. It would then be at the exact same level as a street cop enforcing a 'law'.

You need to read up on that. What I posted this afternoon doesn't even take it into account. Soldiers have a deep-seated institutional prohibition against acting as law enforcement, not to mention it's against both law and the entire philosophy under which the Founders theorized about armies. You can happily hypothesize about SCOTUS overturning 2a (somehow?), but nobody's interested in overturning posse commitatus.

Who cares if "a ban became law?" That's for law enforcement to, y' know, enforce.
