Anyone else playing around in it?

O M F G ! ! ! I need more receiver.

I highly recommend if any of the new hams have access to an HF radio or a general coverage shortwave receiver, give the trad HF bands a tune this weekend. If there was an Olympic radio event, then you'd hear the competitors come out of the woodwork for this contest. The best of the best CW ops are on now.

Not seriously running it, just taking advantage of the "target rich environment" to run up my DXCC hits. Just hunting and pouncing. Got my keyer cranked up to 35 WPM though. [smile] There's some seriously fast MF'ers out here tonite.

I'm tuning across the CW portion of 40m right now, and the average continuous level on my meter is 20 over s 9. It's just a wall of energy.

I'm finding out that the combination of the 300 hz cw filter I put in the rig, the audio DSP, and strategic uses of CW and CWR modes in my FT897 is a VERY effective combination for CW contesting. This is really a pretty effective little CW package in a full blown contest environment.
