i have some old friends who got there back in, what, a 1998, may be. it was a rather popular destination, and at that time, had more effective freedoms than in states.
it is nothing short of amazing of how quickly it all got turned upside down in there.

I travel to Australia once a year for work...usually spend about a month there visiting several cities. I have made some very good friends there. In the rural areas, there is a great deal of anger an frustration at how far left the country has gone and how few liberties they have left. Some of the most libertarian people I know are Aussies. And there are many more firearms in private hands still than the government would like to admit.

The cities are like our major cities, hopelessly overrun by statists and anti-freedom leftists.

Funny story...One time, I was in an airline lounge in Sydney waiting for a flight. An Aussie guy struck up a conversation when he heard my accent. We were comparing notes on life in our respective countries. He was telling me how he couldn't believe how lax the gun laws are over here, and how people are allowed to just carry guns. I explained that it is not quite the way it is portrayed on TV and explained about background checks, etc. He had questions and I explained that it varies by state, but that in my state anyone who is legal can carry without restriction.

He was amazed and asked me "how do you feel safe knowing that people can just carry guns like that?"

"Easy...I always carry a gun."
